Open Cold Game Working Test at Kettleby on Sunday 18th September 2022

We returned for our Cold Game Working Test to Kettleby by kind permission of Richard and Michael Gladwin.

Our thanks to our Judges Steve Cullis (A) and Paula Cullis (B); our Chief Steward Phil Smithies and our sponsors:  Martin and Vicki Strawson and Thomas Bell.

Before the test began, a two-minute silence was held in memory of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

The test was walked up in sugar beet and run as close as possible to field trial lines. The wind was strong and played a major factor in how the dogs worked.

Eighteen dogs started the day.  The first round involved long marks, the dogs taking off their own guns.  The second round was ‘anything goes’: long cross marks with shot or long blinds behind without shot.

Five dogs were taken through to the last round which was a long mark across the beet, over a dyke and in to drilling.
