Thirty members enjoyed the spring weather at Ulceby, by kind permission of Mrs A Burridge and Mr Phil Odling.
As usual, there were four classes in the morning. Sue Lowe trained the puppies, Julie Campbell novice 1, Martin Eveleigh Novice 2 and Ray Newell put the open dogs through their paces. All four trainers judged a test in the afternoon. We thank them and their helpers for giving of their time and expertise.
After a picnic lunch, there were four tests, each graduated appropriately for the four classes.
Test 1 was a blind in long grass in a hollow retrieved before a mark into the open for the open dogs. Novice dogs collected the dummies in the opposite order and novice 2 retrieves were longer than for novice 1.
Test 2 was a double mark for open and novice 2, open dogs covering a greater distance. The test for novice 1 was two single marks.
Test 3 was a two dog walk up and
Test 4 was a mark into the field and a blind behind long grass in the corner of the field bordered by woodland.
The puppies had a single marked retrieve for each test with the dummy falling into different cover at each station.
