Lincolnshire Show Demonstrations on Wednesday and Thursday June 21 and 22nd
On the first day of the Show, the temperature was at least 30oC, but our dogs – and their handlers - soldiered bravely on. The crowd were treated to a demonstration of how gundogs are trained and the amazing things they can do. We had dogs at different stages in their training from puppy to fully fledged gundog and the stages in their development were shown clearly and explained lucidly and wittily by our commentator, Will Hales. At the end of the demonstration the dogs were rewarded with a cooling water retrieve whilst the handlers looked on enviously.
The Thursday weather was more bearable and the dogs, never mind the handlers, found it much more pleasant. Again, the crowd were impressed by the calmness of dogs and handlers and how the handlers went out to quietly help their novice dogs if they found the retrieve difficult. Even the added distraction of the fabulous Red Arrows during the second demonstration of the day did not perturb our gundogs!
There were plenty of visitors to our marquee during the show. Lots of children came to say ‘hello’ to the dogs and give them a cuddle after asking if it was okay. Our handlers were also able to give advice to pet owners and share their doggy stories. Members of the Lincolnshire Area of the United Retriever Club thoroughly enjoyed the two days at Lincolnshire Show.
Demonstration Team: Will Hales, Sue Lowe, Vicki Strawson, Joy and Keith Parker, Caroline Pont, Pete Appleyard, Tracy Elliott, David Falshaw, Sarah Skelton, Sarah Coomber-Smith.

Charity Informal Working Tests at Raithby on Sunday 12 March 2017
The weather forecast had been dreadful, but the reality was okay. The rain held off for most of the day and judges, helpers, 50 handlers, their dogs and their supporters had a great time raising £1264 for Marie Curie Care and Support through Terminal Illness. They enjoyed five tests, a delicious pork roast, an auction and an hilarious ‘heads and tails’ competition.
Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to achieve this fantastic amount.
