We thank Mr R Ward and Mr T Wright for allowing us to use this ground for our Novice Cold Game Test again this year. There is opportunity for a variety of retrieves in sugar beet and stubble and there are a number of hedges and tracks to test the dogs crossing boundaries.
We thank Martin Eveleigh, who did an excellent job as Chief Steward, for sponsoring the event. Martin set up some interesting challenges for the competitors and provided a variety of game. Our judges were Paul Birkbeck, John Iacono and Scot Mann. We are grateful to them for giving up their day to make this a very enjoyable cold game test.
The day was fine, but very windy – which proved difficult for a number of the dogs. The morning was walked up in sugar beet. All twenty four dogs had two single marks in the first round and one crossover mark in the second round.
Six dogs were taken through to the afternoon session for a mark in front and a blind behind. Four dogs survived for a fourth round drive with birds being thrown over a hedge into a stubble field. After collecting a blind behind, each dog was sent for one of the birds through the hedge. This left Tony Williams’ Glassgreen Tay in first place, but a long mark was required to decide second and third.
Results:

2nd Malsan Greenlight for Jogolo LR B Godfrey Lowe
