The award winners and judges
The Two Day Open Qualifying Stake was held on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September at Nevill Holt, by kind permission of Mr David Ross and by invitation of Mr Jim Chattaway. The judges were Phil Allen, Kevin Doughty, Mark Polley and Roger Wade.
The second and fourth award winners
After two excellent days on partridge and a couple of hares, walked up over rough grass, through cover crop, with a few mini drives thrown in for good measure, nine dogs had completed seven retrieves when the judges closed their books. They had been so impressed by the high standard, that they awarded a record number of COMs and had debated long and hard over the first two places.
The Judges
As a club we are hugely indebted to both Jim and Georgina Chattaway, who went way beyond the call of duty to ensure that we had a successful trial, even organising the weather man to keep the rain at bay until we had finished.

NEVILL HOLT IS FAR MORE THAN A VENUE FOR FIELD TRIALS
Nevill Holt Opera is an arts festival at the end of June and beginning of July that is held at Nevill Holt Hall in Leicestershire, the home of Carphone Warehouse co-founder David Ross.
Recent History; In 1920, the Reverend Bowlker bought the Hall and turned it, almost immediately, into a preparatory school and so it remained until 1998. The current owner, David Ross, bought the house in 2000 and has spent the last 12 years on its restoration. Under the ownership of David Ross, Nevill Holt has become known for both its opera festival and its outstanding collection of modern British art and sculpture.
They have a very informative website which can be visited by clicking this link. Its interesting and informative.
