The Puppy award winners
The United Retriever Club Midland Area held Puppy, Novice dog/Novice handler and Veteran tests on the Shortwood Estate at Lamport, Northamptonshire on the 7th July by kind invitation of Jonathen Farr. Judges for the day were Malcolm Thwaites, Chris Winfield and John Iacono.
Stewards Maurice Fitch and John Bowie had set a series of tests for all sections with slight variations according to the experience of the dogs. In the morning there was a mark with a return to the same area for a blind, a basic training exercise, and steadiness through a gateway followed by a blind with diversion,. The afternoon saw a walk up with a mark, and a water retrieve with marks for the puppies and novice dogs and a blind on the far side of the lake for the veterans.
The Estate made a beautiful setting for the day, with perfect weather Thank you to our many wonderful helpers, to Jonathan and Caroline who came to watch and present the awards, to James Lacey their keeper who did such a lot to help with preparations, and to Skinners who sponsored the tests.
