2022 Training Reports
An Introduction to Working Tests Training Day, April 24th 2022
We were so lucky to have some fabulous ground on the Cottesbrooke Estate by kind permission of Alistair Macdonald-Buchanan and his keeper Chris Walker. The trainer for the day was Steve Newitt and 7 handlers spent the morning training on various retrieves commonly used in working tests. Steve explained to the handlers how to approach the tests and where marks would be gained or lost. In the afternoon a competition was held comprising four tests using the same elements as the morning training. The dogs and handlers performed really well, achieving some very good scores.
Sarah Jaggard secured some very generous sponsorship from Skinners, Acme Whistles and Sporting Saint which enabled us to give each handler a goody bag. Thanks must go to Steve Newitt and Maurice Fitch for setting up the day and to the three helpers Matt, Alan & Jane.
