Novice and Open Working Tests

Our first working tests of the season were held at Glebe Farm, Woodford on Saturday 26th March, by kind permission of Stan and Maureen Chaulker and with the assistance of Claire Glentworth. Many thanks go to them for their kind invitation to use this wonderful new ground for our tests.

Malcolm Thwaites, Brian Barker, Steve Richardson and Kate Smith were our judges. Sincere thanks to them for giving us their time and expertise; and also to the small team of helpers who worked so hard leading up to the event, and on test day too.

Those taking part enjoyed watching some excellent work in challenging tests, set in beautiful Northamptonshire farmland. The weather was fine with a slight breeze.

And of course, a huge thank you must go to our two generous sponsors. Firstly Skinners, with their Field and Trial dog food. And also You Pick We Mix sweet company, who provided edible treats for the award-winning handlers and our judges! A raffle was held and all money raised (£101) was donated to IFAW (the International Fund for Animal Welfare), working to support animal welfare, including dog shelters, in Ukraine.

Puppy, Novice Dog/Novice Handler and Veteran Tests

The Midland Area held its Puppy, Novice Dog/Novice Handler and Veteran working tests at Shortwood Estate, Lamport, Northamptonshire on Sunday 10th July.

Many thanks go to our very generous host, Mr Jonathan Farr, who continues to support our club every year by allowing us to hold our tests on this wonderful ground. Also, to keeper Mr James Lacey, who was so helpful by assisting with ground preparations for the event.

Thanks too, to our generous sponsors, Skinners Dog Food.

Our judges for the day were Mr Tim Brain, Mrs Carol Probert and Mrs Pat Dixon. Very special thanks to all three: unlike the handlers, dogs and helpers, they were unable to seek refuge in the shade and so braved the sun all day to perform their judging duties.

Additionally, we would like to extend a very special thank you to Tim, who stepped in at short notice to judge for us and, quite literally, saved the day!
