Today Sunday 30th June 2024 the URC Southern Area held a Novice Walk-Up on Field Trial lines Test at New Barn Farm, Boreham Street, East Sussex. The Judges were Diana Stevens, Ken Green, James Brindley & Bill Gardiner.
Set on these FT lines, a lot of thought had gone into the preparation of the scenarios to make them as similar to that found at a Trial as it was possible to do. Marks and pre-placed blinds really tested the Novices culminating in a drive. The helpers today were magnificent whether running the line, tossing, making sure the right dogs were in line, keeping folk in order, carrying “game” or catering back at base, to say nothing of all the behind-the-scenes work - a real joint effort making such an enjoyable realistic day.

There were lots of “first-timers” here today and all learned a lot and coped well and said what an experience it had proved to be with true-to-life situations not usually experienced before being in at the deep end at the real thing.
