Novice w Pup Aw, Shepherds 19.5.2024

We staged a Novice test today, Sunday 19th May 2024. There was a limit of 40 entrants and we ended up with just 22 on the day. It was a test postponed from March when the ground was too waterlogged and although it was a Novice with a Puppy Award, there were no pups today so no cup presented this time to the Best Puppy

We were very grateful to the landowner Mr Mark Evans for allowing us to return and his keeper Steveo who was so accommodating both pre-test and on the day.

Four judges presided: Roger Wade, Marianne Copp, Andy Snow and Charlotte Hammick, who ran the dogs through their paces: marks, blinds, water and hunt up, with any dogs without a zero going forward to a drive – the first time for many of these novices to experience a drive.

The result of these exercises produced a worthy winner quite clear of the field –

1st Jane Carnaghan’s Lab (D) Geordieland Yarrow Marcher who takes home the Cherryhurst Cup

2nd Jesse Milton’s Lab (B) Fletchingly Maree – The Roydon Challenge cup for the Runner-Up

Jesse also wins the Pleidenham Challenge Cup for

Handler not having won an award at a FT or GWT.

3rd Beverley Baldwin’s Lab (D) Fletchingly Lochay

4th Nicola Grainge’s Lab (D) Rectoryoak Comanche

and picking up a trophy for the Best Golden Retriever was Sue Jackson’s Pandapaws Jamie.

You will notice in the photo that it is a triumph for all dogs Yellow today (even if one of them has slightly longer hair!). Well done all and in particular, many thanks to the helpers who came today. None of this would happen without you.
