We held a Puppy, Special Puppy and Novice Dog Novice Handler test at Glewstone on the 3rd August. The test was run by kind permission of the owners, Mr & Mrs Andrew Jackson and the generous sponsorship of Skinners Dog Foods. The tests were judged by Mrs Sandra Onens and Ms Claire Baker.
We split the day into 2 parts, running the puppies in the morning and the Special Puppies and Novice Dog Novice Handlers after a short break. We provided 4 tests for each group, in an area around one of the many lakes at Glewstone.
The first 2 tests, a mark into the water and a simple walk-up were generally achieved by all dogs, the more advanced dogs doing it in style and the not so advanced achieving with some help from their owners.
The final 2 tests were a hunting exercise and a mark followed with a blind, again these were completed by most dogs. As the marks were tight we needed a run of for 2/3 place.

After a brief lunch we continued with the Special Puppies and Novice Dog/ Novice Handler test. We again set 4 tests; the first 2 were a walk-up and a water retrieve which also included a mark on land to be picked.
The final 2 tests were a blind with a distraction and a marked retrieve which included a jump.
After tea and cakes we presented the awards.
