Our Novice Test was held at Miserden Park 9 June 2013 by kind invitation of Major T Wills and kind invitation of Mr M Weedon. Our judges were Mrs D Wiggin, Mrs A Wales and Mr T Davies, who stepped in at the last minute as an extra judge to handle the entry of 46 dogs.
5 tests were held, the first 3 before lunch; these were a blind and a mark - the blind to be picked first, two blinds placed in reeds with only one to be picked and a long difficult mark across a stream in woodland. The mark proved the most challenging, this being up a hill and the dogs having to mark carefully to achieve a prompt retrieve.
After lunch 2 further tests were run, a double blind and a walk-up with a mark in front and a blind behind. The double blind caused the most problems with one was placed beyond the other and to succeed care had to be taken with the wind direction. The awards were presented by Mrs Wilson who is the mother of our Working Test Secretary. Mrs Wilson has been a member of the North Midland Area for many years.
