The Northern Area wishes everyone all the very best for 2023. We know our URC Members will look forward to getting together and enjoying the beautiful countryside with their lovely dogs. During 2022, we managed eight training sessions. We are very grateful to Gary Collier and Carole Clarke who were both super trainers and it was a joy that each class they held, had enough dogs and their handlers to make it worthwhile to hold the classes. During 2022 we were also able to hold three working tests for Puppy, Novice and Open dogs. Our most important event in 2022 was to host the Inter Area Working Test Finals for Open Dogs at Arles Beck, Winster, in the Lake District of Cumbria. Those of us who were fortunate to attend this event, thoroughly enjoyed being with URC Members from other Areas as well as the Northern Area.
We wish to thank our Sponsors – J.A. Jones and Sons for their support during 2022.
We were able to hold our Annual General Meeting on Sunday, 13th February 2022 in the Office of J.A. Jones and Sons at Banks, near Southport. We were delighted to welcome Committee Members and Non-Committee Members. Following the Meeting, we all enjoyed having a delicious meal together at a nearby Inn.
URC Members from any of the nine areas, will be most welcome to enter any URC(N) events for the 2023 Season, as shown here, on the Programme which follows. Just contact Penny Aubrey, the URC(N) General Secretary if you are interested.

URC INTER AREA WORKING TEST FINALS FOR OPEN DOGS –The URC Southern Area will be hosting this important Test in 2023. The date is possibly Sunday 25th June 2023. The venue will be confirmed nearer the date. As this is the most important event in the United Retriever Club’s Calendar. It would be super to have a good Entry at the Meols Hall Test on Sunday, 14th May 2023 when we choose our United Retriever Club Northern Area Team.
