We held our ND/NH, Intermediate and Veteran Working Tests on Sunday 21 April at Gurston Down – home of the famous Speed Hill Climb - and by kind permission of Robert and Jean Hitchings.
The weather played ball – a fine sunny day although there was a biting north wind – but overall perfect conditions in a wonderful location. The judges were Martin Bagg (B), Ken Green (B), Howard Feltham (NP) and Mark Witham (NP). Four static Tests were held which included holding an area and hunting skills, as well as the usual marks and blinds. These were followed by a short walk-up to test heelwork and steadiness - collectively nearly all aspects of dog work and training were covered. As always a huge thank you to the fine band of helpers who responded extremely positively to the rather 11th hour rallying call for help – for many of them it was the first test they had been to and it was lovely to meet so many of our newer members.
