Novice and Open walked up Glewstone

Novice award winners, judges and hosts

What an amazing last working test for this season for the United Retriever Club Border Counties and Cotswolds.
Held at Lew Cop, Glewstone by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Andrew Jackson, who provided fabulous ground for the Novice and Open Walked Up Tests.

Our judges Craig Perry and Francesca Prentice had 24 dogs to judge in both sections. The ground was several acres of wild flower meadow and soft white grass. The height of the cover and it’s density, and also undulating ground, made marking and holding a line difficult for the dogs and very difficult for the handlers who often lost sight of their dogs while out on retrieves.
Dogs that marked well were at a huge advantage, but those handlers who got their dogs into the right area, and were able to hold them in it, often succeeded above an exuberant dog.

I can’ thank all our helpers enough, what a fantastic happy team! Adrian, Andy Doyle, Andy Purvis, Craig Horton, Sue Leeson, Aileen Jones, Karen McCarthy, David Miller, Ali Leake, Jennie Dimmock, Iris Wright and Clare Baker.
A massive thank you to sponsors Barbury Shooting School and @Skinners Dog Food.
