The URC BC&C Intermediate and Veteran working test was held at Frampton-on-Severn by kind invitation of
Mr P R H Clifford on Sunday, 5th July 2015.
The weather was kind apart from the last test when the heavens opened, but afterwards the sun came out once more so most of us dried off again - the friendly banter, hot drinks and cake also helped to keep spirits up!
The judges were Mr K Selway and Mr R Ford.
The day was organised by John Cornforth and Deana Cornforth.
Following 2 withrawals, 16 dogs ran in the Intermediate and 7 in the Veteran. The day consisted of 5 separate tests described below, with a comfort break after Tests 1 & 2.
Test 1:
This consisted of a short two dog walk to heel in a flat open field, and then a long seen retrieve to shot thrown to the left of the field, with the right hand side dog sent to retrieve first. After another short walk to heel, a long seen retrieve to shot thrown to the right side of the field, with the left hand side dog sent to retrieve. Judge was Mr R Ford.
Test 2:
This test had a blind to shot out of sight down a track with a placed distraction (after the dog had gone down the track) which the dog would see on the way back but not pick. Judge was Mr K Selway.
Test 3:
This test was a multiple blind hunting exercise within a marked area. Judge was Mr R Ford.
Test 4:
This was a water retrieve and consisted of a seen towards the centre of the pond and a blind along a track to the left of the pond. The blind along the track was sent for first. Judge was Mr K Selway.
Test 5:
This test was a long seen down the hill just into some tall cover. Judges were Mr R Ford and Mr K Selway.
A run-off to split 2nd and 3rd position took place for the Veterans, and between 3rd and COM's for the Intermediate.
